Gist has announced that it has won the right to manage prepared fruit producer Spring Valley Foods' international inbound supply chain between South Africa and the UK.
The logistics provider has said that it expects to manage the international transport of temperature controlled prepared fruit into the UK from South Africa directly into Gist's chilled transport and warehouse network for delivery into retail stores.
Strict temperature-controlled processes ensure that the fruit is maintained at optimum temperatures throughout the entire supply chain – from the processing operation to the airport, in the air and onboard vehicles from the airport and to stores.
Gist's temperature management technology ensures that Spring Valley's products have the shortest possible route from South Africa to the UK, improving availability and reducing waste, the group noted.
'Gist always places top priority on the integrity of our supply chain and the strict temperature controls they have in place means our customers can enjoy the benefits of fresher fruit delivered at its best,' said Spring Valley managing director Peter Black.
Martyn Gwynn, CEO of Gist, added: 'Gist's end-to-end supply chain operations make the best use of transport, technology and people to ensure our customers get their products across the globe as quickly and efficiently as possible whilst maintaining the highest possible product quality.'
