Schwarz Group-owned retailer Kaufland is to begin work on a new distribution centre in Romania, located in Mihai Viteazu, according to local press reports in the country.
Construction the on the Germany-based superstore and hypermarket operator's site will begin next week, covering 128,500m2 and creating 1,200 jobs, Planet Retail reported.
Meanwhile, fellow German group Metro is also looking to enhance its operations in eastern Europe by opening a new distribution centre in Subotica, northern Serbia.
The €15m facility will create 150 new jobs, the group said, with Metro operating a network of five cash and carry outlets in the country.
