French marketer Blue Whale has just launched its first strawberries of the year, with the arrival of the early Gariguette variety.
The Gariguette is one of the prized collection of Red Label strawberries from Lot-et-Garonne, in addition to Ciflorette and Charlotte, premium strawberries recognised for their exceptional flavour and freshness.
'Blue Whale strawberries are subjected to strict specifications and controls at different stages of production and marketing,' the company said in a press release. 'Sensory analyses evaluate the gustatory quality of the product, while grading controls the sugar levels. Good colour, shape and fruit size are also evaluated.'
Between 28 March and 25 April, visitors to the Red Label strawberries website will be able to take part in an online competition, with a chance to win a number of prizes for the best recipes involving Red Label strawberries.
