Kuehne and Nagel (K&N) has announced that it has agreed to take over Netherlands-based perishable airfreight cargo specialist J. van de Put Fresh Cargo Handling, in a bid to further enhance its global 'fresh-to-door' concept.
The group, located at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, specialises in handling fruit, vegetables, plant cutting and flowers, and facilitates logistics and customs processes for import and export shipments.
According to K&N, J. van de Put offers a full range of services such as vacuum cooling, temperature controlled storage, customs clearing and inspections as well as delivery and distribution across Europe.
'This acquisition follows our global expansion strategy in the field of perishable logistics,' said Karl Gernandt, chairman of K&N International. 'It extends our global capabilities and complements the service offering of our national organisation, ranked number one in the Dutch airfreight export market. Our customers will benefit from temperature controlled door-to-door logistics solutions for perishable goods that require highly specialised handling know-how.'
