After several seasons of low production due to health-related events (PSA), French kiwifruit grower-marketer Primland has announced a return to normal production levels of 15,000 tonnes of fruit harvested in November.
Meanwhile, the Chilean Kiwi Oscar harvesting season has ended with a yield of 4,000 tonnes.Some300 tonnes of Oscargold and 600 tonnes of early green kiwi Summerkiwi were harvested, Primland said in a press release.
Looking ahead, like many French companies, Primland eagerly awaits the next Vietnamese market opening and the regulation of a temporary administrative problem in Indonesia, where Primland is the leading supplier of French kiwifruit, the release said.
'Primland consolidates its strong presence in other Asian markets, particularly in China, Taiwan and Thailand. This year the company continues to pursue its policy of creating events for journalists and bloggers (China, Taiwan, etc.) and its presence in the leading international trade fairs such as Fruit Logistica in Berlin in February,' the firm said.
'In order to diversify the revenues of its producers and to offer its customers new volumes, Primland is currently leading an ambitious campaign to recruit producers to develop its new varieties.'
Primland is making provisions for new plantations this winter of kiwiberry Nergi - 50ha added to the 170ha already installed in France, as well as new plantings of Hayward and gold kiwifruit.
