Company on course to ship 400-600 tonnes of the fruit this year

Persimmon

Paraguayan producer Frutas de Paraguay exported 200 tonnes of persimmon to Europe in 2024, up from 130 tonnes in the previous year.

As reported in El Nacional, the company – based in the town of Cerro Costa in the district of Santa María – carried out its first persimmon exports in 2023. This year it is on course to ship between 400 and 600 tonnes.

Approximately 340 tonnes of persimmons, produced in the department of Misiones, have already been shipped to the European market, according to reports from regional technicians from the National Service for Quality and Plant and Seed Health (Senave).

The first five consignments weighing between five and 10 tonnes each, were sent this week, bound for Spain.

Phytosanitary inspections of shipments at origin are carried out to ensure compliance with the requirements established by the destination country, thus guaranteeing the quality and safety of Paraguayan products.
