Almost 550 companies, including a large Latin American contingent, are set to exhibit at this year’s Fruit Attraction trade fair in Madrid, which opens on 19 October at 11.30am at the Spanish capital’s Feria de Madrid exhibition centre.
The event, which will take place at the site’s pavilions seven and nine, will be formally opened by Spanish agriculture minister Rosa Aguilar, alongside the regional presidents of the Andalusia and Canary Islands regions, Juan Antonio Griñán and Paulino Rivera, and Portugal’s minister of agriculture, Diogo Santiago Albuquerque.
For its third edition, Fruit Attraction 2011 will cover 15,000m2, some 28 per cent more than last year’s show, and will feature representatives from all Spain’s fruit and vegetable production regions.
This year’s event will be marked by a greatly increased international participation in the form of companies from France, Italy, Belgium, Portugal and the UK, as well as delegations from Brazil, Argentina and Mexico.
According to organisers, almost 600 buyers and representatives from global grocery retail chains will be present at the fair as a result of Fruit Attraction’s International Buyers Invitation Programme.
