Spanish fresh produce trade fair Fruit Attraction, which is jointly organised by national federation Fepex and event specialist Ifema, has launched its International Buyers’ Programme for 2011, an initiative that enables exhibitors to invite trade professionals to the show.

The project allows exhibiting companies to invite buyers and other leading figures in the sector to this year’s edition of Fruit Attraction, which will take place in Madrid from 19-21 October, with Fepex and Ifema prepared to cover each invitees’ travel and hotel costs.

Trade fair director Raúl Calleja said the programme would cover “industry representatives of great interest to the export sector, with significant decision-taking powers in their companies, whose presence will help to make Fruit Attraction extremely profitable for its exhibitors.”

The event’s organisers said it hoped the initiative would bring “even more important” buyers to Fruit Attraction than attended the event last year, with 500 invites being issued compared with 400 in 2010.

Event exhibitors wishing to take part in the programme are required to submit their proposals for invitees to Fepex and Ifema by 31 July.
