Fresh Quest is reporting strong demand for its recently-launched cantaloupe variety Honeymoon. The melon has a golden skin, light green flesh and sweet flavour and aroma. It is grown in Guatemala between late December and April, with volumes peaking during March and April.
“Thus far, retail demand for Honeymoon has been very positive,” Fresh Quest’s president Alan Guttman said. “At first we were not sure that there would be enough demand to justify importing 250,000 cases, but it turns out that we are oversold through April. We are actually already writing Honeymoon contracts for the next offshore season.”
Honeymoon is one of three new melon varieties the Plantation, Florida-based company is launching in the US this year.
