Costco Wholesale Corp has reported on yet another month of sales growth, its sixth in seven months, with fruit and vegetable sales playing their part in the increase.
April sales totalled US$5.83bn for the four-week period, the group said, up 13 per cent on the US$5.18bn recorded in the same period of 2009.
David Sherwood, director of investor relations at Costco, told The Packer that banana dollar sales had increased by low double-digits in percentage terms through the month, while citrus sales had jumped by high double-digits.
Total fresh produce dollar sales rose by low single digits, with unit sales up but offset by lower selling prices, Mr Sherwood told the publication.
