Kroger

US food retail giant Kroger is reportedly planning to expand its fresh food offer by opening more convenience stores which focus on fresh food.

The outlets will be larger than Kroger’s other convenience units and will stock fresh meat, fresh produce and a small range of deli items, Kroger’s chief financial officer Michael Schlotman announced at the company’s recent investor conference.

Kroger plans to build the convenience stores in markets where the group already operates full-size grocery outlets, according to a report by Planet Retail.

Kroger currently operates a number of retail outlets including: Dillon’s grocery stores, Kwik Shop c-stores and the Turkey Hill convenience store banners.
