UK-based fresh produce supplier Fresca Group has announced the appointment of Andrew Sharp as its new group technical director.
Mr Sharp is currently running the recently established apple and pear business at Fresca Group's subsidiary company Mack Multiples.
Group chairman Christopher Mack said the diversity of Fresca's operations had reached such a level that such an appointment was necessary for the entire group of businesses covering a wide range of customers and products.
'Our investment in new technology and varietal development continues apace and the time is right to make this new senior appointment to bring together and promote the considerable technical expertise that already exists within our businesses,' he commented.
Mr Sharp's new responsibilities will include developing Fresca's technical team at all levels across the business.
'We are fortunate to have probably the best qualified person to fill this position already within our business,' said Mr Mack.
Mr Sharp's experience includes senior technical roles with a number of major retailers and, before joining Mack in 2006, Andrew was technical manager for produce at Marks and Spencer.
'He has enormous experience of a wide range of products and growing across the world,' added Mr Mack.
Across the business, Fresca's various technical teams will continue to work within their assigned individual product business as before.
