The FDSEA (Departmental Federation of Farmers’ Unions) and the JAs (Young Farmers Union) of Bouches-du-Rhône and Vaucluse, in the south of France, launched a call to action yesterday to protest against the practices of the supermarkets.
According to Fld, the unions demand better displays for fruit and vegetables, the immediate introduction of an observer of margins, fairer distribution of a product’s added value, regional preference, and an end to the distortion of competition with other producer nations.
Reportedly, the slogan for the protest is: “the supermarkets are making us penniless”.
