A majority of French people are in favour of a proposal by the minister of industrial recovery Arnaud Montebourg to create supermarket shelves reserved for products that are 'made in France', according to a survey by Tilder, LCI and OpinionWay.
The study showed that 78 per cent of French people believe stores should create shelves exclusively for home-grown products, Le Nouvel Observateur reported.
In addition, half of French people reportedly think that a drop in the cost of labour is needed to help businesses compete internationally, with the other half favouring other means.
