Earlier this week, according to Végétable, French minister of agriculture Bruno Le Maire announced the government’s desire to put a system of credit insurance in place to assist fruit and vegetable producers in their export activities.
The first to benefit from such a system would be producers of apples and pears, whose season is just beginning.
According to Mr Le Maire, the best solution to the current crisis in the agricultural sector is for fruit and vegetable producers “to become more offensive on foreign markets”.
The minister of agriculture has put 10 working groups in place to prepare for the roundtable on the competitiveness of the sector, to be held on 22 September.
