Following a request by the AOP for peaches and nectarines and by the AOP for tomatoes, interprofessional organisation Interfel has gained permission from the state for the sale of these products outside retail stores.
Minister of economic affairs, finance and industry Christine Lagarde, minister of agriculture Bruno Le Maire and secretary of state for trade Frédéric Lefebvre have authorisation for the first two weekends of July.
The mild spring has caused many summer fruits and vegetables to arrive early this year, leading to oversupply.
In a press release, Interfel stated: 'These sales outside stores are a much needed and effective tool to promote and celebrate the arrival of this year's exceptional production by increasing the number of gathering places for consumers.'
