According to the ANPP, the national association for apples and pears, the French apple harvest is set to be extremely early this season.
Throughout France, harvesting is expected to take place 7-20 days earlier than usual, depending on the region.
The orchards of the southeast of France will be the first to commence at the end of July, followed by the southwest and Val de Loire region at the start of August, and then eventually the northern region, which should be three weeks early.
The ANPP attributed this precocity to the weather conditions experienced over the past few months, including February's spring-like temperatures.
Although the next eight weeks will be crucial for the fruit's development, the ANPP has anticipated a normal harvest, despite the season's early start.
