Following years of negotiations, French apples have gained entry to Mexico, with Interfel calling on exporters to pursue this new market with ambition
As reported in Fruitnet, several high-level institutional meetings were held in Mexico at the end of March, in the presence of French minister delegate for foreign trade Laurent Saint-Martin, Mexican minister of agriculture Julio A Berdegué, and president of Interfel Daniel Sauvaitre.
“These exchanges were an important step in strengthening trade relations between France and Mexico, particularly in the fruit and vegetable sector,” Interfel stated on LinkedIn. “After several years of negotiations, technical exchanges and constructive cooperation, we are proud to announce the signing of a bilateral protocol that opens access to the Mexican market for French apples.”
The protocol guarantees: the sanitary and phytosanitary quality of French apples, a clear framework for exporters and importers and new commercial prospects for the sector.
“This result is the fruit of meticulous, rigorous, long-term work,” Interfel said, “carried out with commitment and determination. A huge thank you to all the industry’s professionals for their mobilisation and trust throughout this process.
“And congrats to the Interfel and DGAL teams, whose involvement has been essential at every stage of this structuring project. Let’s now set our sights on this new market, with ambition and high standards!”
