French fresh produce interprofessional organisation Interfel will continue its promotions in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Malaysia at retail level for French apples and kiwifruit this season.
The decision to renew the campaign, which is funded with support from the EU, came as Chinese authorities approved another 1,500ha of French orchards in the Loire and South West France for apple exports to China, Interfel’s Daniel Soares told Fruitnet.
Meanwhile, a new French trade organisation to develop agri-food exports to China – AFCA – is launching this year.
Marc Peyres, export manager for French apple and kiwifruit grower-shipper Blue Whale, will be co-president of this new body.
“The idea behind this group is to get French products better accepted in China,” Peyres told Fruitnet. “It’s important for export growth. The French government wants to boost exports.”
Peyres was this year also appointed vice president of further committee to promote French food products across all Asian markets.
