The UK-based Fresh Produce Consortium has announced new appointments to its council for a two-year term.
The new faces are Andy Garton, head of produce at Morrisons; Nigel Harris, chief executive of foodservice specialist Fresh Direct; and Gillian Kynoch of potato supplier Albert Bartlett.
The appointment of Jim Rogers as president for 2012-13 was approved at the AGM on 14 June, when Simon Martin of QV Foods and Harris agreed to act as joint vice-president for 2012-13.
Chris Hutchinson, Richard Thompson, Michael Velasco and Nigel Jenney were all re-elected for a further term of two years each.
Co-opted directors elected by the council to stand for a further year are Richard Brighten, Anthony Levy and Asda’s Jim Jefcoate.
Rogers said: “I am delighted to have such a strong and dedicated team on the FPC council. We welcome our new directors to the council and look forward to having the benefit of their valuable contribution to the work of FPC.”
And Jenney said: “We are committed to provide the highest level of support to our membership and the FPC council plays a vital role in steering our activities.
'FPC will continue to fight the industry’s corner by challenging any unnecessary regulations and provide a professional, efficient, value-for-money service to our members.'
The council paid tribute to two longstanding directors who stood down at the agm - Adrian Barlow, formerly vice president of FPC and Hans van Zetten, former chairman of the Importers Association, who successfully saw the association through its transition to the FPC in 1992.
Rogers said: “Both Adrian and Hans have been valued directors of the FPC council and we are grateful to them for their commitment and contribution over many years. We wish them every success for the future,”
