The Fresh Produce Consortium (FPC), the UK's fresh produce trade association, has announced that it made a number of changes to its non-executive council at a recent meeting.

Three new directors have been appointed to the council, FPC said, including Nigel Harris, CEO of Fresh Direct Holdings, Jim Jefcoate, technical director of International Produce Limited, and QV Foods director Simon Martin.

Meanwhile, Jim Rogers was re-elected as FPC president for a further year, with Adrian Barlow continuing his second term as vice-president.

'We are delighted to welcome Nigel, Jim and Simon to join the council following unanimous approval by the Council and FPC members,' said Rogers. 'The council will be strengthened by the specific expertise and knowledge which these new directors bring. FPC has secured significant benefits for its members over the past twelve months and continues to represent the interests of the UK fresh produce industry on critical issues.'

CEO Nigel Jenney added that members would continue to benefit from what he described as a 'forward-thinking' council.

'This industry faces many issues which challenge our ability to trade effectively and profitably,' Jenney noted. 'A strong trade association is vital to raising the industry’s profile and driving forward our agenda across UK government, the European Commission and other stakeholders.'
