Dutch fresh produce marketer The Greenery has strengthened its commercial team with the appointment of Herman Burger, who will work in sales and grower relations at the company's Barendrecht-based head office.
The appointment was welcomed by Henk van der Meij, product unit manager for fresh fruit and vegetables at the company, and would appear to confirm The Greenery's desire to develop close links with its grower suppliers.
'We are pleased that Herman is continuing his career at The Greenery and wish him every success,' Van der Meij commented, adding that the appointment would enable the group to achieve even closer ties with producers.
'This, of course, is part of our continued focus on sales and relationships with the growers,' he said. 'The team has added in Herman an experienced fruit and vegetable specialist with a heart for the growers.'
Burger was previously sales manager at Dutch cooperative Coforta, The Greenery's main vegetable supplier, where he worked as sales manager for the Dutch pepper grower association PaprikaNL, which produces around a quarter of the country's fresh pepper crop.
Prior to that, he spent 18 years at Valstar Holland, part of the Best Fresh Group, where he worked his way up from the warehouse to eventually manage the company's purchasing department.
