Food Safety Education Conference 2010

The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced that the fourth national Food Safety Education Conference will take place on 23-26 March 2010 at the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta, US.

Under the title 'Advancement in Food Safety Education: Trends, Tools and Technologies', the conference will be hosted by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and NSF, and is co-sponsored by the FDA, the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the Partnership for Food Safety Education and the NSF/WHO Collaborating Centre for Food Safety.

'The conference will build on the momentum of the 2006 National Food Safety Education Conference 'Reaching At-Risk Audiences and Today's Other Food Safety Challenges', to increase awareness of and promote public healthcare practices that support food safety and health protection among healthcare, medical and public health professionals, and, through them, consumers,' the FDA said in a statement.

Objectives of the 2010 conference are to update causes and casualties with the latest foodborne illness data, Improving the effectiveness of social marketing techniques and previewing the roles of technology in consumer education, while also identifying opportunities for future partnerships and collaboration.
