In an interview with Le Petit Journal, the new president of the FNSEA, France's largest farming union, stressed that the current role of the union was to assist French agriculture during this period of multiple crises.
'We are here to give hope through a coherent and innovative project,' said Xavier Beulin, who was announced as the new president in mid-December.
Distributors, transformers and producers all have common interests, he said, above all offering quality products to consumers.
'The three links in the chain also have a duty: to work together in a fair partnership,' he added. 'It is up to the retailers and transformers to respect the work of the producers. Lasting partnerships require sharing and mutual respect.'
