Florida International Terminal

Port Everglades has announced that marine terminal operator Florida International Terminal (FIT) has been awarded the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO 9001:2008) quality management certification.

The certification is part of a quality management system whereby an organisation demonstrates its ability to consistently provide a product that meets customer and regulatory requirements, aiming to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective implementation of the system.

'This certification demonstrates FIT's commitment to efficiency, dedication and quality service,' said Port Everglades director Phil Allen. 'We hope this measure continues attracting commerce to the port; supplying south Florida's residents and businesses with diverse international products such as fruit and wine, and fostering prosperity for all businesses utilising Port Everglades or those supporting businesses operating from our south Florida location.'

FIT has operated a multi-use or third party cargo terminal at Port Everglades since 2005, enabling the port to expand its reach the South American market by handling proprietary cargo from Chilean-based CSAV and CCNI. FIT operates a 36 acre container terminal in the Southport area of the port, with access to five berths and seven gantry container cranes.

Port Everglades is one of the leading container ports in the US and represents a key gateway to Latin America, the Caribbean and other international trade.
