A cold snap hit citrus groves in the US state of Florida on Tuesday night, Reuters has reported.
Don Kenney, an agricultural meteorologist, said in a statement: "Approximately three-quarters of the citrus belt has seen temperatures cold enough to result in frost, with about a quarter of the belt seeing a hard freeze."
Andrew Meadows of Florida Citrus Mutual, the state's growing association, added: "All in all I would not call it a non-event but in general the industry came through in pretty good shape."
Kenney advised that temperatures should rise above freezing by the end of the week.
