French prepacked salads specialist Florette has announced that it is launching a new range of ready-to-eat fruit in the UK.
The range was initially planned for 2010, but due to great interest from its customers, Florette elected to bring the launch date forward to this autumn.
The prepared fruit category is estimated to be worth more than €230m, with one consumer in three buying prepared fruit.
Florette's new range of prepared hand-cut fruit will reportedly be offered in three formats: snacking, takeaway and family.
Products on offer will include fresh pineapple, melon medley and fruit medley, which will be available in 170g pots (with a complimentary fork) and in 350g pots.
The company is also planning a further range, including apple slices and grapes packed in an 80g sachet.
