Factory profitability expert Marco has revealed that it has received a second order in six months from UK salad producer Flavourfresh for its Trac-IT Yield Control solution.
The group, which specialises in growing, packing and distributing fresh salad products to supermarkets and retail chains in the country, has made the move following the success of a Marco installation – dedicated to the packing of tomatoes – that has already improved efficiency and productivity.
Marco's Yield Control system overcomes the problems inherent in standard scale systems for manually packing fresh produce, such as variations in size and weight leading to packs coming off the line, by reducing giveaway to fractions of a gram without impacting line speed, using weight checking and adjusting software.
'The first eight station installation has brought excellent results and in a shorter time period than we expected,' said Brendan Gillow, operations manager at Flavourfresh. 'It was a natural business decision to expand our line capabilities with these further eleven stations.'
Marco managing director Murray Hillborne said that the advantages his company's systems could bring were clear.
'We are delighted Flavourfresh have again placed their trust in our packhouse capabilities,' he noted. 'Our systems are brining important productivity benefits to fresh produce companies around the world.'
