Chilean port expects to handle 42,000 pallets of fruit in 2024/25
The port of Caldera has kicked off its 2024/25 agricultural export season with the first shipment of table grapes from the Copiapó valley. On Monday, a consignment of 4,531 pallets loaded onto the Baltic Pearl departed for the port of Philadelphia.
The port of Caldera is the only exit point fruit from Atacama to the US and plays a key role in the regional economy. Port manager Mauricio Molina said fruit shipments could exceed 42,000 pallets this, based on estimates by exporters and shipping companies.
This first shipment marks a milestone for the region and reaffirms the port’s importance to Chile’s agricultural export industry.
