Hortiberia managing director Fermín Sánchez has announced his departure from the Spanish fresh produce export consortium and the establishment of a new export venture called Gruventa.
In conjunction with two other former Hortiberia directors, Teodoro Hernández and Isaac Murcia, Sánchez said he had opened the new company, based in Lorquí, Murcia, to focus on “high quality” products.
In a statement, the ex-Hortiberia managing director said Gruventa would function as a sales platform for high quality fruits and vegetables from across Spain, which would focus on exports to major retail chains within the European Union.
Sánchez said: “Our mission is to offer our clients horticultural products of the highest quality, for which we will be able to count on associated growers from different Spanish production zones, with the aim of providing our clients with a wide and varied product offer 365 days a year.”
