Spanish fresh produce federation Fepex has said that the inaugural edition of its Fruit Attraction trade fair “surpassed all expectations” and had contributed to improving the expectations of the sector in the short to medium term.
According to the group, Fruit Attraction, which took place from 4-6 November in the Feria de Madrid conference centre in the Spanish capital, received a total of 12,628 professional visitors, of which 8,480 were said to be high level decision makers.
In a statement, Fepex said that 7,481 of the visitors were Spanish nationals, while 999 were drawn from a total of 52 countries, among them Italy, France, Portugal, the Netherlands, Poland, the UK, Germany and Brazil.
Fepex said the fair’s first edition had “surpassed all expectations” by attracting “virtually the entire Spanish fresh produce sector, well as a large international presence”.
The show, it said, had proved itself to be “a magnificent meeting place for the sector and retailers”, claiming that it had “significantly contributed to improving the expectations of the industry in the short to medium term”.
“The achievement of all these objectives will without a doubt contribute to increasing the social, economic and commercial basis for this project for its next edition in 2010,” Fepex added.
