Stonefruit

The Spanish region of Extremadura is aiming to boost exports of stonefruit and other fresh produce to the US and Mexico through a trade mission, which is taking place to both countries.

Extremadura’s minister for trade, the economy and innovation, María Dolores Aguilar, is visiting the two countries this week with the goal of reinforcing trade relations and strengthening its fruit exports.

In a statement released through Spanish news agency EFE, the regional government of Extremadura said the minister would meet with the Mexican chamber of commerce tomorrow with representatives from its Spanish equivalent.

The administration said that Ms Aguilar would try to reach formal agreements during the meetings to enable a greater presence for the region’s fruit in the Mexican market.

Following two days in Mexico, the minister will travel to the US for meetings with the Spanish embassy in Washington and representatives of the EU in the country.
