Eurotunnel

As part of its programme to develop cross-Channel rail freight, Eurotunnel, which manages the Channel Tunnel, has launched a new weekly rail service for refrigerated freight between Spain and the UK.

The first freight train of 30 refrigerated containers was launched last week. Organised by major international transport operator Stobart Group, the train transported fruit and vegetables from Valencia in Spain to Dagenham in the UK.

The new service will initially run once a week, but Stobart Rail has revealed plans to increase the frequency to five trains per week by the end of 2010.
