Eurosemillas has held a trial harvest day of two new types of strawberries developed by California University, reports Hurriyetdailynews.com.
The Spanish-Turkish partnership controls the patent on Mojave and Benicia strawberries, and arranged the event in the Pinarli region of Antalya.
After the trial in southern Turkey, Eurosemillas plans to distribute the viable new types of strawberry across the world, with the help of contracted seedling developers.
Adil Karci, Eurosemillas' general coordinator in Turkey, told Hurriyetdailynews.com that eight types of strawberry will be tested, starting with Mojave and Benicia, and that current tests were showing yields of 3-8 tonnes per 0.1ha.
