German shipping group Hamburg Süd is to implement its newly configured Europe-Mediterranean services at the end of September and beginning of October, bringing in two new rotations.
According to Hamburg Süd, the Northern Route (EMNR) and the Europe-East Mediterranean/Israel Service (UKEI), as well as the Southern Route (EMSR), will be replaced by two standalone services – the North Europe-South Mediterranean Service (NESM) and the North Europe-North Mediterranean Service (NENM).
Employing five vessels with capacities between 2,500 TEU and 2,700 TEU, the NESM will follow a port rotation of Felixstowe, Antwerp, Hamburg, Tangiers, Alexandria, Limassol, Ashdod, Mersin, Haifa, Alexandria and Felixstowe.
For the NEMM, five ships with capacities of 1,700 TEU to 2,100 TEU will be employed, on a rotation of Felixstowe, Hamburg, Antwerp, Tangiers, Beirut, Lattakia, Kumport, Gebze, Izmir, Salerno and Felixstowe.
The new configuration is designed to offer comprehensive port coverage and fast transit times from and to northern Europe, the group said.
