South Korean shipping group Hanjin has reported that the new Euromax terminal at the Port of Rotterdam, the Netherlands has been opened for the first time.
The terminal, developed jointly by Europe Container Terminal and the CYKH Alliance (Cosco Group, K-Line, Yang Ming Line and Hanjing Shipping), is located in Maasvlakte-1, on the mouth of the Maas River.
Phase-1 of the terminal can handle up to 2.3m TEUs, the group said, with further plans to expand to phase-4, allowing the facility to manage 5.6m TEUs.
'The unique combination of strengths at the Euromax terminal certainly provides a solid foundation to grow upon,' said Young Min Kim, COO at Hanjin Shipping. 'With many ports around the world facing capacity issues, the new terminal will be able to avoid these concerns by increasing efficiency while also allowing access to larger vessels.'
