Orsero Group subsidiary completes expansion of distribution hub on north-east outskirts of Portugal’s capital
Portuguese fresh produce importer Eurofrutas, part of Italian-owned Orsero Group, has upgraded and expanded its primary coldstorage facility in Alverca do Ribatejo, on the outskirts of north-east of Lisbon.
“I’m thrilled to announce we’ve completed the renovation and modernisation of our Alverca, Lisbon warehouse,” said Raffaella Orsero, vice-president and managing director of Orsero Group. “A huge thank you to everyone who played a part in making this happen.”
In recent presentations to investors, the company revealed it had undertaken significant improvement work to buildings and equipment in its warehouses in France, Spain, Italy and Portugal.
According to those documents, expenditure on its Alverca renovation is understood to have cost in the region of €1.5mn-€2mn over the past two years.
The announcement that the planned work in Portugal has been completed comes just a few days after Orsero Group revealed plans to open a new coldstorage and packing centre in Seville.
Due for completion in 2029, the facility is expected to help its Hermanos Fernández López and Eurofrutas subsidiaries increase their turnover in Spain and Portugal respectively by a combined €100m.
