Eurobanan has invested in new ripening rooms and packing facilities at its distribution centre in Alicante. The upgrade will add an extra 6,000 tonnes of ripening capacity, bringing the facility’s total capacity to 18,000 tonnes.
It comes less than a year after Eurobanan opened eight new ripening rooms at its distribution centre in Madrid and forms part of the company’s strategy to boost its banana and tropical fruit offer in response to strong consumer demand.
Managing director Donal O'Driscoll said the Alicante centre formed a key part of the group’s development strategy in Spain and would enable it to improve energy efficiency and offer customers products in optimum condition.
