Euro Pool System, a major supplier of returnable packaging to the European fresh produce business, has celebrated its 20th anniversary and targeted further growth in the coming years.
"By integrating our logistic activities with the supply chain of our customers, we can save thousands of transport kilometres and drastically limit carbon footprint – two results that benefit the whole fresh produce supply chain," said a spokesperson.
Marking two decades since three co-operative grower associations in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany opted to iron out their logistical inefficiencies by pooling their resources, the company thanked all of its clients and users for their continued confidence in its business.
"We will continue to grow together beyond our 20th anniversary," the spokesperson added.
Working in collaboration with Europe’s leading retailers, Euro Pool System said it had contributed to the development of better logistics, helping to strip out cost from the supply chain expediting delivery.
In 1997, the group launched the foldable container, a collapsible and stackable version of rigid containers already in use.
Eight years later, it developed a new tray for the German market that accentuated the environmental and sustainable nature of the product.
At the beginning of 2011, the company achieved a record high of 600m rotations per year.
The subsequent takeover of pallet pooling specialist LPR provided both companies new opportunities to grow in their core markets.
