Euro Pool System, Europe's largest logistics service provider of returnable containers for fresh produce, has launched its new washing facilities for returnable containers at REO Veiling in Roeselare, Belgium.
A special open day was held in October to celebrate the launch of the facility, which is fully automated and is suitable for both rigid and foldable containers and came at a total expenditure of €6m.
Three new production lines have been installed at REO Veiling replacing the original lines that were installed in 1994, with two machines handling up to 2,800 containers per hour while automatically de-palletising, un-stacking, washing, drying, stacking palletising and sealing or wrapping the containers, while the third is used for manual washing operations of smaller container batches.
The washing facilities cover an area of 3,000m2 and are housed in a 16,000m2 building, which has been fully renovated, with lower energy and water consumption capabilities at the forefront.
