At this year's Fruit Logistica in Berlin, Asociafruit and Euro Asper have revealed the official programme for the ninth edition of the European asparagus conference, Euro Asper 2012, as well as the event website.
On 21-23 March this year, the Spanish city of Granada will host Euro Asper 2012, the most important asparagus sector symposium in Europe, organised by Asociafruit (Association of Fruit and Vegetable Producers and Exporters from Andalusia and Extremadura) and Euro Asper.
The event, which occurs biannually in different European countries, has grown to become the main European event bringing together asparagus sector producers, marketers and researchers to create a platform for debate concerning asparagus production, agronomic innovation, marketing, distribution and eco-sustainability.
This year’s programme focuses on three main topics, including 'Panorama of asparagus production', 'Cultivation of asparagus' and 'Marketing of asparagus'.
The main topic of debate at the conference deals with the possibilities for developing proximity agriculture as a European distribution provider, and its application in the case of asparagus.
On the day prior to the presentations, a technical visit will be made to the Huetor-Tajar area, which is unique in its cultivation of green and green wheat asparagus with a specific denomination.
Furthermore, the event includes a workshop with the Fruit, Vegetable and Horticultural European Regions Assembly (AREFHL) to address important issues such as the next reform of CAP, among others.
