Emirates SkyCargo has developed a new container that it claims provides a more cost effective option for companies wishing to transport temperature sensitive cargo.
Dubbed the White Container, it has been designed for cargo requiring temperatures of 2oC-8oC and 5oC to 25oC and offers “a reliable solution for time and temperature-sensitive cargo that does not fall into the very high sensitive category”, the company said.
The inside of the container is coated with thermal insulators to reduce the transfer of outside heat into the container. It also features coolant trays so that handlers can replenish dry ice or coolants without disturbing the packaging.
“After two years of intensive research and development by our team, we are introducing a new cool-chain offering to the air freight market,” said Moaza Al Falahi, Emirates’ vice president for cargo product development and local affairs.
He said the White Container was designed as an affordable option and does not replace Emirates SkyCargo’s high-end Cool Chain Premium solution.
“Instead, it offers an intermediate solution that is cost effective for commodities, such as generic healthcare products and food perishables. It is also environmentally friendly and meets all regulatory requirements.”
