Egyptian citrus exports could once again gain access to the US market, according to various reports, following a decade-long ban.
Imports of citrus from the Middle East were banned in 2002 due to the presence of the peach fruit fly.
However, the US Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has put forward an effective pest treatment schedule to enable imports of Egyptian oranges, mandarines and clementines.
The announcement comes nearly two months after the news that Egyptian strawberries have also been granted access to the US market.
