The Produce Marketing Association (PMA) has announced that engineering and distribution logistics expert Edmund Treacy is set to take up the newly created position of vice-president of supply chain efficiencies this month.

Mr Treacy, who boasts over 20 years of senior management experience in logistics and supply chain management, will take up his position on 12 April, charged with developing PMA's supply chain practices to lead both the produce and floral industries forward.

He will report to PMA's chief science and technology officer Bob Whitaker, incorporating much of the work previously carried out by former PMA vice-president for industry technology and standards Gary Fleming.

'Adding Ed Treacy to the PMA staff team brings our members a hugely talented resource with great industry experience,' said PMA president and CEO Bryan Silbermann. 'His hiring continues a deliberate course we set to strengthen our staff with the top-level subject matter experts who have unrivalled experience in their fields.

'Dr. Bob Whitaker and Johnna Hepner are supplying real-world insight and member value for food safety,' he added. ' Ed now adds that same expertise and insight to the vital area of supply chain efficiencies. All three understand the business solutions our members need.'
