Interfel's Bruno Dupont last week gave his first press conference since being unanimously voted in as the interprofessional organisation's new president, according to a report from Fld.
'Many presidents would like to be elected by such a large majority,' he said. 'This is a strong sign that we wanted to give.'
The new president's mission is to bring some calm to Interfel, both externally, with the eight families that make up the organisation, and internally, with its sixty-two employees.
'The fruits and vegetable sector is a mess,' he said, before setting himself the challenge to 'rebuild the interprofession and return to it its dignity'.
He also recognised the need to 'show a different face of French fruit and vegetables to consumers', while highlighting the French origin.
'There is a strong demand from the whole of the organisation to defend the French origin,' he said.
Given his new role, Dupont will stand down as president of the National Federation of Fruit Producers (FNPF), with a new president being chosen this week.
