Driscoll's Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) has acquired one of its nursery partners in the Netherlands, A-Plant, in a bid to strengthen future growth and bring in-house key nursery technology and knowledge.
A-Plant, located in Helenaveen and now renamed as Driscoll's Plants BV, will continue to operate as a separate entity from Driscoll's EMEA, the group revealed.
“This acquisition is part of our ambitious growth strategy driven by our commitment to our mission to continually delight our berry consumers through alignment with our customers and our Berry Growers,' explained Theo Houwen, managing director od Driscoll's EMEA. 'Given that plants are at the start of our berry supply plans, we believe that this take-over will directly contribute to our strategic objectives.”
A-Plant's integration will particularly benefit Driscoll's in the field of more sophisticated strawberry plant types, the group noted, while the deal also represents a sign of commitment to its grower community, enhancing their capabilities in delivering plant quality and quantity on time.
