It has been announced this week that Dole Food Company's vice-president of global logistics, Ulises Carillo, is the latest speaker to confirm participation at Cool Logistics 2010, which takes place in Hamburg on 20-22 September.
Mr Carillo will join a panel on day two of the event, discussing the lessons learned by shippers of fresh produce, meat, fish and health products during the global downturn and implications for future perishable logistics and transport management.
'We are very pleased to have secured the participation of such a major multinational company involved in sourcing, growing, processing, distributing and marketing fresh produce,' said Rachael White, event director for Cool Logistics.
Also confirmed to speak at the event is Philip Symons, category buyer for fresh produce at Marks & Spencer in the UK, who will join Dr Horst Lang of independent German retailer Globus SB-Warenhauser to discuss fresh food retail sourcing strategies.
'Global sourcing of fresh produce will be high on the agenda for 2010, both in terms of how public sensibilities regarding sustainability and responsible trading are influencing retail strategy and how 'provenance' is likely to impact investments, quality and ultimately profitability of the cold chain as a whole,' Ms White added.
The agenda for the third Cool Logistics conference is available online, with advisors for the 2010 event including Alfred Cheung of ZIM Integrated Shipping, Malcolm Dodd of South africa's Fresh Prodce Exporters Forum, Axel Guenther of Lufthansa Cargo, Alex Schenz of New Zealand fruit producer Applemax and Michaela Steineker from Hamburg Süd.
