Dole Food Company has announced the launch of its new Dole Garden Kit, which it calls 'a perfect gift for the novice gardener', designed to educate about food growth and healthy eating.
The Garden Kit includes 12 seed varieties, including 'nutrition powerhouses' broccoli, tomatoes, kale and carrots, and also provides peat pots, trays, row markers and a journal filled with gardening tips and recipes.
Experts at the Dole Nutrition Institute designed the Garden Kits to be simple and fun to use, helping young people learn how food is grown while instilling healthy eating habits, the group noted.
'Teaching children the value of healthy eating has been part of Dole's mission for more than 20 years and today we are proud to take that one step further with our new Dole Garden Kit,' said Jennifer Grossman, senior vice-president for Dole Food Company and head of the Dole Nutrition Institute. The Garden Kit launch follows on the heels of the Dole Portobello Mushroom Powder released earlier this year. The Garden Kits are available exclusively at www.doledepot.com for US$19.95.
