The German subsidiary of Dole Fresh Fruit Europe has put on hold its melon import programme following problematic market conditions last season.
“The 2007/08 season was very difficult due to low prices and poor demand for melons,” a representative of Dole Germany, one of the group’s largest operations in Europe, told Fruitnet.com. “As a result, we will not be handling melons for the German market this year.”
The Hamburg-based German arm of Dole Fresh Fruit Europe recently changed its name to Dole Germany OHG, having previously operated under the name Dole Fresh Fruit Europe OHG
A full report on the upcoming Latin American melon export deal in Europe will be featured in the January 2009 issue of Eurofruit Magazine.
