Howard Roeder has been promoted to president of Dole Fresh Vegetables as part of a company restructuring that also includes the closure of its Gonzales salad-processing site.
Roeder will succeed Ray di Riggi, who is one of several members of Dole’s senior management team set to retire.
In a move to streamline operations, Dole will close its cooling and warehouse operations in Gonzales, relocating some staff to its Marina facility.
Dole spokesman Bill Goldfield told The Californian the plant closure is part of a global reorganisation of the company that operates in more than 90 countries, producing and marketing fresh produce.
